This Nico Standard Restrictor Friction Hinge is a precision engineered hinge with an integral restrictor mechanism that auto engages upon opening, limiting the initial window vent to help prevent accidental falls while allowing manual override for full opening when needed. The restrictor can only be released using a two-handed action, enhancing child safety. Built from stainless steel with a riveted nose cap, 3-stage counterbored rivet holes, glass-reinforced nylon slides, and a brass friction-adjustment screw, the hinge is designed for long term durability, corrosion resistance, and adjustable smooth operation. Technically certified and thoroughly tested, the hinge complies with a comprehensive range of British and European window safety and performance standards. It meets BS EN 14351 for load-bearing capacity of safety devices, and BS 6375-2:2009 for operational and strength characteristics. It has undergone cycle testing under BS EN 6375-2, weather testing through BS EN 6375-1, and contributes to compliance with BS 8213-1:2004 for safe cleaning clearance when fully open (size/profile dependent).
